Recap: Wagner vs. Central Conn St

Staten Island, NY (Sports Network) - Jonathon Williams netted 20 points as the Wagner Seahawks routed the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils, 72-50, in the quarterfinals of the Northeast Conference tournament at the Spiro Sports Center.

Marcus Burton contributed 15 points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench for second-seeded Wagner (19-11), while Latif Rivers chipped in 10 points.

Kyle Vinales paced CCSU (13-17) with 23 points and Malcolm McMillan had 10 points.

CCSU shot just 22.2 percent in the opening period and went more than seven minutes without a basket midway through the half. Wagner made twice as many baskets as the Blue Devils and led 32-19 at intermission.

Kenneth Ortiz had five of his seven assists in the second half as Wagner shot 38.5 percent from the floor.

Wagner won the rebounding battle, 56-40, and corralled 23 offensive boards. It will face Long Island in the semifinals this weekend.
