Recap: Morehead State vs. Tenn-Martin

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Milton Chavis led the way with 14 points as the fifth-seeded Morehead State Eagles took down the eighth-seeded Tennessee- Martin Skyhawks, 73-66, in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Municipal Auditorium.

Bruce Reed and Angelo Warner netted 11 points apiece for Morehead State (15-17), which will take on fourth-seeded Tennessee State in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

For UTM (9-21), Mike Liabo led all scorers with 24 points, while Terence Smith and Jeremy Washington poured in 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Although Morehead State missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the first half, it shot 46.7 percent overall and carried a 36-30 lead into intermission.

UTM brought its deficit to just two with 12:35 left in the second half, but the Eagles put an end to that threat by ripping off a 9-0 run to pull away.

Morehead State dominated the rebounding battle, doubling up UTM, 46-23.
