Recap: Tennessee St vs. Morehead State

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jordan Cyphers scored 23 points as the fourth-seeded Tennessee State Tigers advanced past the fifth-seeded Morehead State Eagles, 88-75, in an Ohio Valley Conference quarterfinal matchup at Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

Robert Covington added 21 points and eight rebounds and Patrick Miller and Kellen Thornton each had 15 points for Tennessee State (18-13). Miller also handed out 10 assists for his third double-double of the season.

Drew Kelly had 16 points and seven rebounds, Angelo Warner registered 15 points and seven boards and Milton Chavis chipped in 12 points for Morehead State (15-18).

In the first half the Tigers shot at a 50 percent clip, while holding the Eagles to just 34.5 percent shooting, to take a 41-30 lead into the break.

After halftime the Eagles improved to 50 percent shooting but the Tigers nailed five shots from long range and 14-of-18 from the free-throw line to coast to the victory.

Tennessee State will take on top-seed Belmont in Friday's semifinals.
