Recap: Northwestern St vs. Sam Houston St

Katy, TX (Sports Network) - DeQuan Hicks and Marvin Frazier each scored 11 points as the Northwestern State Demons held on for a 55-52 win over the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament at the Merrell Center.

Shamir Davis and James Hulbin each tallied seven points as well for Northwestern State (22-8) which takes on Stephen F. Austin in Saturday's title game.

Darius Gatson had a game-high 14 points and James Thomas added 11 points and eight rebounds for Sam Houston State (17-17).

Northwestern State held the Bearkats to just nine field goals in the second half while knocking down 10-of-13 shots from the free-throw line.
