Recap: Northern Ill vs. Eastern Ill

DeKalb, IL (Sports Network) - Morris Woods netted 18 points on 7-of-10 from the field to lead the Eastern Illinois Panthers to a 59-47 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies in a BracketBusters clash at the NIU Convocation Center.

Josh Piper added nine points and eight boards for Eastern Illinois (9-20), which won the rebounding battle, 31-23. Sherman Blanford also finished with nine points for the Panthers.

Abdel Nader scored 17 points to lead Northern Illinois (5-20).

Cameron Harvey got EIU going with a triple after more than six scoreless minutes for the Panthers. The visitors held a 27-25 edge at halftime after a well-played half in which both teams combined for just three turnovers.

NIU went cold in the second half, making just 37 percent from the floor and 1- of-6 from 3-point land.

Despite the loss, NIU still leads the all-time series, 45-44.
