Recap: Toledo vs. McNeese State

Toledo, OH (Sports Network) - Rian Pearson hung up a double-double as the Toledo Rockets cruised past the McNeese State Cowboys, 79-66, in a BracketBusters battle at Savage Arena.

Pearson had a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for Toledo (13-11) which has won seven of its last eight games. Matt Smith and Reese Holliday each added 13 points and Dominique Buckley and Julius Brown had 10 points apiece with Brown also dishing out 11 assists.

Jeremie Mitchell netted 18 points and Pete Kpan chipped in 11 off the bench for McNeese State (11-14) which had won three of its previous four.

Both teams shot below 40 percent from the field in the first half but Toledo hit 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and led 35-22 at the break.

After halftime the Rockets improved to 62.5 percent shooting to keep the Cowboys at bay.

McNeese State did have a 29-6 edge in second chance points in the loss. Toledo forced 20 turnovers which it traded in for 21 points.
