Dante Williams found Valentine early in the extra session for a triple to give Oakland a quick 77-74 advantage. Atkinson knotted the score with a 3-pointer of his own on the other end then Oakland then hit 5-of-8 from the foul line in the games final minutes while MSU went cold from the floor. Trailing by three with three seconds remaining, Kahlil Owens turned the ball over and Oakland survived.

Oakland improved to 1-1 in overtime games this season while Morehead State falls to 0-3.
