Recap: Wyoming vs. Western Mich

Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - David Brown led the way off the bench with 17 points including a game-tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation to lift the Western Michigan Broncos to a 75-67 overtime victory over the Wyoming Cowboys in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational at the Arena-Auditorium.

Shayne Whittington posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards for WMU (21-13) as it advanced to the next round where its opponent is yet to be determined. Nate Hutcheson scored 12 points and swiped four steals while Brandon Pokley netted 11 points. The Broncos have now won two overtime games in a row as they downed North Dakota State, 72-71, in an extra session on Wednesday.

For Wyoming (20-14), Larry Nance, Jr. spearheaded the charge with 19 points and eight rebounds. Riley Grabau chimed in with 13 points while Leonard Washington and Josh Adams both went 5-of-12 from the floor to tally 12 points each. Derrious Gilmore added 11 points and five assists in the setback.

The Cowboys shot 43.5 percent from the field and outscored the visitors, 9-5, at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 31-29 halftime lead. WMU hit on 40.7 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.

The Broncos trailed for the entire second half until they tied it up at 56 with just over a minute left to play. Gilmore put Wyoming up, 58-56, with 49 seconds showing on the clock with a pair of made free throws and after Brown missed a jumper, Adams made 1-of-2 at the charity stripe, Brown sent the game into an extra session with a clutch triple.

Brown scored six points and Whittington had four in overtime to help WMU to the win.
