Recap: Texas-Arlington vs. Oral Roberts

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Warren Niles finished with 24 points and seven rebounds as the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles took down the Texas-Arlington Mavericks, 84-76, in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the College Park Center.

Shawn Glover added 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for ORU (19-14), which also received a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds from Steven Roundtree. Damen Bell-Holter scored 15 points and sank 9-fo-12 at the free- throw line in the win.

Karol Gruszecki paced UTA (19-14) with 21 points. Kevin Butler, Jordan Reves and Brandon Edwards scored 11 points apiece, with the latter grabbing a team- best nine rebounds and rejecting six shots.

The Mavericks got off to a slot start and hit only 34.6 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half. ORU took a 43-27 lead into halftime after it sank 53.1 percent of its shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Golden Eagles used a 12-0 run to jump out to a 19-7 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining before the break.

UTA fought back in the second stanza as it connected on 46.5 percent of its field goal tries including 7-of-18 from 3-point range, but the Golden Eagles converted 25-of-35 at the free-throw line to protect their lead, which never shrank lower than seven.

ORU enjoyed a 42-34 edge in the rebounding battle to overcome its 15 turnovers.
