Recap: Evansville vs. Eastern Ky

Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Colt Ryan scored 25 points to lead the Evansville Purple Aces to an 86-72 win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Physical Activities Center

The win gave Evansville (20-14) its first 20 win season since 1999. Troy Taylor added 16 points, seven assists and seven rebounds and Ned Cox and D.J. Balentine had 13 points apiece as well for the Purple Aces.

Glenn Cosey dropped in 18 points, Mike DiNunno added 14, Corey Walden tallied 12 and Eric Stutz finished with 11 for Eastern Kentucky (25-10).

The two squads were deadlocked at 43-43 going into halftime. Each was extremely hot from the field in the opening period with the Colonels hitting 66.7 percent from the floor, including 8-of-15 from beyond the arc. Evansville shot at a 55.6 percent rate and kept the game tied with a 9-3 edge from the free-throw line.

After the break the Purple Aces pulled away by shooting 54.2 percent from the floor while the Colonels went cold and made good on just 34.6 percent of their field goal attempts.

Evansville had a 24-11 advantage from the free-throw line while having nearly twice as many attempts as the Colonels (35-18). Led by 10 boards from Ryan Sawvell the Purple Aces also had a dominating, 41-20, advantage in rebounds.
