Recap: Arkansas vs. Alabama

Fayetteville, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Bobby Portis tallied a career-high 35 points on 14-of-17 shooting while adding nine rebounds and six blocks, as the Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, 65-58, in an SEC clash at Bud Walton Arena.

Rashad Madden added six assists for the Razorbacks (14-8, 3-6 SEC), as they snapped a two-game losing streak.

Rodney Cooper had a double-double with 22 points and 10 boards for the Crimson Tide (9-13, 3-5), who extended their losing streak to three games. Trevor Releford chipped in 12 points for the visitors.

Alabama made 33.3 percent of its field goal tries in the first period but still led 26-24 at intermission. Arkansas struggled even more, shooting 27.3 percent from the field, including 0-of-7 from beyond the arc.

The Razorbacks were much sharper in the second half, as they connected on 54.2 percent of their shots from the floor and made 14-of-17 from the free-throw line. The Crimson Tide couldn't match Arkansas' effort and converted just 37.5 percent of their field goal tries, as they saw their first-half advantage slip away.

Arkansas edged Alabama on the boards, 42-38, which helped them overcome a poor 1-of-13 showing from beyond the arc.
