Recap: Georgia vs. Arkansas

Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kenny Gaines scored 15 points as the Georgia Bulldogs narrowly won, 66-61, in overtime against the Arkansas Razorbacks in an SEC tilt at Stegeman Coliseum.

Marcus Thornton registered a double-double for the Bulldogs (9-7,3-1 SEC) with 11 points and 13 boards, but he shot just 3-of-11 from the floor on the day.

Coty Clarke logged 13 points and three steals for the Razorbacks (12-5, 1-3), as they have now lost three of their last four contests. Rashad Madden and Fred Gulley had 12 points apiece.

Arkansas made 35.7 percent of its field goal attempts in the first frame as it took a slight 29-28 lead into the half. Georgia shot 29 percent from the field, including 1-of-9 from 3-point range, but kept it close by making 9- of-12 at the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs connected on 27.3 percent of their field goal tries in the second half, while the Razorbacks weren't much better at 28.6 percent. Madden made two free throws with 1:45 on the clock to tie the game at 52-52. After both teams missed two field goal attempts in the remaining time, the game went to overtime.

Georgia started the extra stanza with a 10-3 run that gave it enough room to capture the victory. The Bulldogs went 28-of-39 (.718) at the charity stripe to stay in the game after shooting so poorly.

The Bulldogs finished the day with a resounding 56-34 advantage on the glass and outscored the visitors at the free-throw line by 16, which was just enough for the program to overcome 19 turnovers.

This is the first time in school history that Arkansas has played in three straight overtime games.
