Recap: Missouri vs. Southern Ill

Columbia, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Clarkson notched a career-high 31 points as the Missouri Tigers cruised past the Southern Illinois Salukis, 72-59, at Mizzou Arena.

Clarkson shot 12-for-18 from the field and posted five assists in the Tigers' (2-0) winning effort. Jabari Brown and Earnest Ross added 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Desmar Jackson racked up 17 points for the Salukis (0-1), shooting 7-of-14 from the field, but he was the team's only player in double figures.

The Salukis kept the game close in the first half, shooting 45.2 percent to the Tigers' distressing 37.9 percent, but the went into halftime trailing, 35-34.

Missouri caught fire in the game's latter half, however, shooting 54.2 percent from the floor while expanding its lead to as big as 17 points late in the game.

The Tigers shot just 63 percent from the foul line, but they were still able to outscore SIU from the charity stripe, 17-3.
