Recap: Utah State vs. Miss State

Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Preston Medlin led the way with 21 points and six assists as the Utah State Aggies made easy work of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 87-68, in non-conference action at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Jarred Shaw tallied 17 points and eight rebounds for Utah State (4-0), while Spencer Butterfield chipped in with 16 points.

For Mississippi State (3-1), Gavin Ware logged a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Colin Borchert netted 15 points, while Craig Sword and Dre Applewhite added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Utah State shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-15 from 3-point range, as it carried a comfortable 41-28 lead into intermission. Mississippi State drained 42.3 percent of its shot attempts in the opening stanza but made just two buckets from beyond the arc.

The Aggies continued their hot shooting after the break, making 53.8 percent of their field goal tries, as they cruised to the 21-point victory.

Utah State dominated on the glass, outrebounding Mississippi State by a 41-23 margin.
