Recap: Vanderbilt vs. Miss State

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rod Odom scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Vanderbilt Commodores edged out a 55-49 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Southeastern Conference action at Memorial Gym.

Kyle Fuller netted 14 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists for Vanderbilt (12-8, 4-4 SEC), but also gave away six turnovers. Damian Jones chipped in 13 points in the win, which was Vanderbilt's third in a row.

Fred Thomas scored 16 points to pace the Bulldogs (13-8, 3-5). Gavin Ware netted nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. Mississippi State has lost three consecutive games.

Vanderbilt shot just 37 percent in the first half, but took a 25-21 lead into the break thanks to 36.4 percent shooting by Mississippi State. The Commodores hit just 3-of-16 from 3-point range in the frame.

Vanderbilt turned it around in the second half, hitting 55 percent of its field goal tries to Mississippi State's 44 percent shooting mark from the floor.

The Commodores had the advantage in points in the paint, 26-16, and in points off turnovers, 24-9. The Bulldogs outscored Vanderbilt in bench points, 11-3.
