Recap: Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt

Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Antonio Barton drained 5-of-7 3-pointers en route to a season-high 21 points, and the Tennessee Volunteers thumped the Vanderbilt Commodores, 76-38, in Southeastern Conference play at Thompson- Boling Arena.

It was a record-setting defensive performance for Tennessee, as Vanderbilt's 38 points are the fewest scored by an opponent in Thompson-Boling Arena history.

Jarnell Stokes contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds for his 17th double- double of the season to help the Volunteers (18-11, 9-7 SEC) earn consecutive wins for the first time in a month.

No player reached double figures for the Commodores (15-13, 7-9), who were a four-point winner at home when these teams met up on Feb. 5. The 38-point deficit in the rematch was the largest margin in 185 all-time meetings with UT.

The Volunteers wasted little time as they sprinted out to a 24-6 lead and never looked back. Barton knocked down three 3-pointers in that stretch, and UT went on to take a 41-18 halftime lead. The 18 points marked the lowest first-half scoring total for Vandy this season and it tied the Vols' best defensive effort.

Things got even uglier in the second half for the Commodores, who shot a mere 4-of-27 (.148) from the floor over the final 20 minutes.

The Vols shot a healthy 53.1 percent for the game and committed only eight turnovers, a solid all-around showing as they look to boost their NCAA Tournament chances with a late-season push.
