Recap: Texas A&M vs. North Texas

College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Maurice Aniefiok scored a game-high 16 points as the North Texas Mean Green stunned the Texas A&M Aggies, 61-41, in non-conference action at Reed Arena.

Aniefiok, who converted 4-of-6 shots behind the 3-point line, added six rebounds for the Mean Green (8-5) as they posted their third straight win. Also scoring in double figures was Alzee Williams who dropped in 14 points as he knocked down 5-of-6 shots from the floor.

Alex Caruso was the only player in double digits for the Aggies (8-4), tallying a mere 10 points as the team bowed for the second time in as many games.

North Texas closed the first half on a 32-9 run, holding the Aggies without a made field goal for more than six minutes down the stretch in order to establish a 36-19 advantage at the break. The hosts registered just seven field goals in the first half, compared to nine turnovers.

In the second half the Aggies again struggled from the floor (8-of-27) and complicated matters by converting a mere 4-of-11 at the free-throw line, en route to the lopsided setback.

Prior to today, the last win for the Mean Green in the series was back in 1999 at home in Denton, 91-88.

The point total for the Aggies was their lowest since losing a 64-37 decision at Oklahoma on March 1, 2008.
