Recap: Maryland vs. Florida State
College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by a career-high 32 points on 7- of-10 3-point shooting from Seth Allen, the Maryland Terrapins downed the Florida State Seminoles, 83-71, in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle at the Comcast Center.
For the Terrapins (14-10, 6-5 ACC), Dez Wells added 15 points and six assists and Jake Layman chipped in with 12 points.
Aaron Thomas paced the Seminoles (14-9, 5-6) with 17 points, while Devon Bookert dropped in 14 points, Okaro White finished with 12 points and Montay Brandon scored 11.
Maryland was red-hot from the field to start the game, shooting 61.5 percent and knocking down 6-of-14 from 3-point range in the first half. The Terps went on an 11-3 run to end the half and led comfortably at the break, 46-29. They allowed Florida State to hit on just 35.5 percent of its field goal tries, including 2-of-7 from beyond the arc in the first.
After intermission, the Terps cooled off, making 42.3 percent of their field goal tries but stayed efficient from long range, connecting on 4-of-10 from 3-point distance. The Seminoles made 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in the second half but shot just 40.6 percent overall in the period. Maryland saw its lead swell to as many as 20 after halftime as it cruised to victory.
The Terps outscored the Seminoles from 3-point range, 30-15. The Seminoles did have the advantage in the frontcourt, outscoring the Terps 34-26 in the paint and outrebounding them, 38-31.Game Notes
