Recap: Florida State vs. Miami-Florida

Tallahassee, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Donnavan Kirk scored 16 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Miami Hurricanes secured a 77-73 win over the Florida State Seminoles in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Tonye Jekiri chipped in with 15 points off the bench, shooting 5-of-6 from the field, followed by Rion Brown and Garrius Adams with 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Hurricanes (12-12, 3-8 ACC) as they snapped a two-game slide.

The Seminoles (14-10, 5-7) were paced by Devon Bookert who tallied a game-high 17 points, adding five rebounds and five assists in the setback. Aaron Thomas added 16 points, Okaro White 14 and Ian Miller 13 points in a reserve role for a squad that has dropped five of the last six.

Miami scored the first points of the night and never looked back, using 5-of-8 shooting behind the 3-point line in the first half to grab a 34-26 advantage at the break. Part of the problem for FSU was that the team failed to make a single trip to the free-throw line through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half the Seminoles converted 51.5 percent from the floor and 1- of-14 at the charity stripe in order to close the gap, but just not quite enough as the Hurricanes won the crucial road date.

Not only did Miami make good on 7-of-15 behind the 3-point line, it also outscored the hosts 24-10 at the free-throw line.
