Recap: Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Carter, Jr. led the way with 16 points as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets coasted to a 62-51 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies in an Atlantic Coast Conference tilt at McCamish Pavilion that served as the regular season finale for both sides.

Daniel Miller contributed 14 points and nine rebounds for Georgia Tech (15-16, 6-12 ACC), while Trae Golden tallied 13 points and eight assists. Marcus Georges-Hunt pulled down seven boards to help the Yellow Jackets pick up their second-straight decision.

Joey van Zegeren led the Hokies (9-21, 2-16) with 21 points, which he accompanied with seven rebounds. Jarell Eddie was limited to just 2-of-10 shooting from the floor and five points and grabbed a team-high eight boards for Virginia Tech as it endured its sixth loss in a row.

The Yellow Jackets took a 29-22 lead into the intermission after they connected on 48 percent of their field goal attempts and assisted 10 of their 12 makes from the floor in the opening period. Virginia Tech led, 18-16, with 4:24 left before the break. Georgia Tech scored the next nine points to go in front and never looked back. The Hokies went just 2-of-9 from 3-point range in the first half.

Georgia Tech extended its advantage to 19 points with just under 10 minutes left to play and converted 6-of-7 shots at the free-throw line to keep the visitors at bay.

The Yellow Jackets' reserves outscored Virginia Tech's bench, 22-13. Georgia Tech finished with eight steals compared to just two by the Hokies.
