Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Maryland

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lamar Patterson paced all scorers with 19 points to help lead the Pittsburgh Panthers to a 79-59 victory over the Maryland Terrapins in Atlantic Coast Conference action at the Petersen Events Center.

Patterson was a red-hot 8-of-12 from the field for Pitt (14-1, 2-0 ACC), which has won four straight since suffering its only loss of the season to Cincinnati on Dec. 17. Durand Johnson poured in 17 points, Talib Zanna narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds and James Robinson got his teammates involved with seven assists.

For Maryland (10-6, 2-1), Seth Allen put up 18 points on 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Evan Smotrycz was also active from 3-point range (4-of-11) on his way to 14 points.

The contest was tightly contested in the first half, but with the score tied at 28 with under three minutes to go before intermission, Pitt pieced together an 8-2 run to take a 36-30 lead at the break.

The Panthers pulled away in the second half, outshooting the Terps from the field, 55.2 percent to 28.6 percent, en route to the 20-point victory.

Maryland was hindered by 13 turnovers, while Pitt coughed the ball up just seven times.
