Recap: Maryland vs. Notre Dame

College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Dez Wells scored 17 points, as the Maryland Terrapins defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 74-66, in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at the Comcast Center.

Seth Allen registered 14 points and four assists for the Terrapins (11-7, 3-2 ACC). Nick Faust tallied 13 points, while Charles Mitchell added 10. Jake Layman brought down 10 rebounds.

Pat Connaughton led the Irish (10-7, 1-3) with 19 points and six boards. Garrick Sherman logged 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting and Eric Atkins chipped in 11 with six assists, as the Irish lost their third straight.

The first period belonged to Notre Dame, as it shot a lofty 58.3 percent from the floor and held a 34-25 lead at the break. Maryland struggled, making just 32.4 percent of its field goal attempts, including 3-of-16 from 3-point range.

Maryland opened the second half on an 18-4 run to take a five-point lead with just over 10 minutes to play, and it would never surrender that advantage down the stretch.

The Terrapins held the rebounding edge, 40-31.
