Recap: Maryland vs. Wake Forest

College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Faust led the way with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, as the Maryland Terrapins took down the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 71-60, in an Atlantic Coast Conference clash at the Comcast Center.

For the Terps (15-12, 7-7 ACC), Charles Mitchell added 12 points, Jake Layman scored 11 and Evan Smotrycz and Seth Allen each chipped in with 10 points.

Travis McKie led the Demon Deacons (14-12, 4-9), losers of six-straight, with 16 points, while Codi Miller-McIntyre finished with 12 points and six assists and Devin Thomas posted a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds

Maryland shot just 40 percent from the field in the opening stanza but did knock down 5-of-15 from beyond the arc in the half. Trailing 23-19 with just under four minutes to play the Terps finished the half on an 11-5 run and took a 30-25 lead into the break. Despite shooting a healthy 52.4 percent from the field in the first half, Wake Forest struggled from deep, making just 1- of-5 tries from 3-point range.

After intermission, Maryland improved to 45.2 percent shooting, including 3- of-11 from 3-point distance. The Demon Deacons connected on 43.3 of their field goal tries but only 2-of-10 from beyond the arc. Wake Forest cut its deficit to just one, 36-35, with just over four minutes gone in the second, but Maryland responded with a 16-3 run to put the game away.

The Terps finished the game with a 24-9 scoring advantage from beyond the arc. The Demon Deacons left a lot of points at the charity stripe, shooting just 9- of-20 from the free-throw line on the night.
