Recap: NC State vs. Appalachian St

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - T.J. Warren scored a game-high 27 points as the NC State Wolfpack made easy work of the Appalachian State Mountaineers en route to a 98-77 win at the PNC Arena.

Warren was 13-of-20 from the floor while grabbing eight rebounds and recording three steals for the Wolfpack (1-0). Desmond Lee contributed 24 points while hitting 10-of-12 attempts from the field. Tyler Lewis added 15 points and Anthony Barber managed 13 points while both Lewis and Barber recorded six assists each.

The Mountaineers were led by Tevin Baskin, who was 8-of-12 from the field with 24 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Frank Eaves managed 12 points and Tab Hamilton added 11 points. Tommy Spagnolo pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to go with eight points of his own.

Both squads came out hot in the first half and with each team shooting well over 50 percent from the floor. NC State that took a 43-38 lead into the break thanks to its 11-of-16 performance at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes.

The Wolfpack pulled away after the break. While shooting an amazing 68.6 percent from the field, NC State went 3-for-3 from long range while holding the Mountaineers to just 2-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. NC State outscored ASU, 55-39, in the second half of the game.

The Wolfpack controlled the tempo in the game and ASU was not able to keep up. NC State scored 27 fast break points throughout the game compared to just 13 for the Mountaineers.
