Recap: Virginia vs. Virginia Tech

Charlottesville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Malcolm Brogdon netted a game-high 18 points as the Virginia Cavaliers coasted to a 65-45 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies in an Atlantic Coast Conference bout at John Paul Jones Arena.

Joe Harris added 12 points for Virginia (15-5, 6-1 ACC) as it picked up its third win in a row. Justin Anderson made an impact on the defensive end with three blocked shots.

Devin Wilson led the Hokies (8-11, 1-6) with 12 points.

The Cavaliers took a 34-17 lead into the intermission after they knocked down 54.5 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening period. Virginia Tech was limited to just 27.3 percent efficiency from the floor and converted just 2-of-8 attempts at the charity stripe in the first half.

Virginia cooled off to hit on only 33.3 percent of its field goal tries in the second stanza, but managed to make good on 14-of-16 at the charity stripe to keep the visitors at bay. The Hokies missed all seven of their shots from behind the 3-point line after halftime.

Virginia enjoyed a 34-29 edge in the rebounding battle.
