Recap: Wake Forest vs. UNC Greensboro

Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Thomas recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, helping the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeat the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 59-51, at LJVM Coliseum.

Thomas shot 5-of-9 from the field for the Demon Deacons (10-2), who have won four in a row. Tyler Cavanaugh (12 points) and Codi Miller-McIntyre (11) joined him in double figures.

Kyle Cain led the charge for the Spartans (6-7), notching a double-double of his own with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Kayel Locke was his only teammate to reach double figures with 14 points.

The Spartans struggled in the first 20 minutes of play, shooting just 25.8 percent from the floor, including 0-of-8 from beyond the arc. The Demon Deacons, in turn, shot 46.2 percent on that mark, good for a 29-22 lead at halftime.

Despite improving to shoot 37.9 percent from the field in the second half, UNCG was still outpaced by the more consistent Wake Forest, which shot 43.5 percent. The Deacons never trailed in the second half.

Wake Forest outscored its opponent 40-24 in the paint and 16-11 on second- chance points. The Spartans' perimeter game was also a huge weakness, and they only knocked down 1-of-15 from long range.
