Recap: Indiana vs. Nebraska

Bloomington, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Walter Pitchford and Shavon Shields each tallied 17 points to help lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 70-60 win over the Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten Conference showdown at Assembly Hall.

Pitchford grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the win, and Shields pulled down eight boards of his own for Nebraska (18-11, 10-7 Big Ten). Terran Petteway netted 13 points, but missed all four of his 3-point tries in the contest. Nebraska has won seven of its last eight games played.

Troy Williams led all scorers in the contest with 18 points for Indiana (17-13, 7-10), adding six rebounds to his night. Will Sheehey chipped in with 13 points, and Yogi Ferrell contributed 10 with eight rebounds and five assists. The Hoosiers, who snapped a two-game win streak, were without star freshman Noah Vonleh for the second consecutive game due to an injury.

Nebraska connected on 50 percent of its shot attempts in the first half, but hit just 3-of-10 from 3-point range. Still, the Cornhuskers took a 34-26 lead into the intermission thanks to 37.5 percent shooting in the frame from Indiana. The Hoosiers hit just 1-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc in the half.

The Huskers slowed down a bit in the second frame, hitting 40.7 percent of their shots, but connected on 11-of-13 from the free-throw line. Indiana again was sub-par from the field, netting 36.1 percent of its field goal tries, including 4-of-12 from 3-point distance.

Nebraska had the edge in second chance points, 15-11, and in bench scoring, 21-18. Indiana won the battle in points off turnovers, 13-8.
