Recap: Kansas vs. Kansas State

Lawrence, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Standout freshman Andrew Wiggins shot himself out of a slump and helped Kansas maintain its stranglehold in the Sunflower Showdown series.

Wiggins netted 22 points and No. 18 Kansas routed No. 25 Kansas State 86-60 on Saturday afternoon.

Wiggins, who had been held to a 32.8 percent clip from the floor over his last five games, was 7-of-13 from the field for Kansas (11-4, 2-0 Big 12), which has won seven straight over Kansas State and leads the all-time series 187-91.

"It just shows we're the dominant team in Kansas," Wiggins said.

Coming off a career-high 24-point performance, freshman Wayne Selden added 20 points in the triumph.

Nino Williams tallied 12 points to lead the Wildcats (12-3, 2-1), who had their 10-game winning streak snapped. K-State's notable freshman Marcus Foster scored just seven points on 3-of-12 shooting in defeat.

"They have great depth. They've got so many weapons," K-State head coach Bruce Weber said.

Kansas led 15-12 prior to the midway point of the first half before the Jayhawks used a 16-3 run to seize control of the contest.

Jamari Traylor had five points during the surge, which Tarik Black capped with a dunk when a double-teamed Joel Embiid found him cutting down the lane to extend the margin to 31-15.

Selden's triple with four seconds left in the half helped the Jayhawks take a 45-28 cushion into the break.

Kansas cruised to the easy win over the final 20 minutes.

Game Notes
