Recap: Iowa vs. Penn
Iowa City, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarrod Uthoff scored a game-high 19 points as the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Penn Quakers, 86-55, in non-conference action at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Uthoff was 6-of-7 from the field and also went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free- throw line for the Hawkeyes (5-0) who concluded their five-game homestand to open the season. Roy Devyn Marble added 13 points and six steals while Mike Gesell contributed 10 points.
Penn (1-3) was led by Darien Nelson-Henry, who recorded 13 points, six rebounds and a pair of blocks. Tony Hicks added 10 points and five assists but also had six turnovers.
The Hawkeyes dominated the first half, outscoring Penn, 48-27, as they were able to convert 14-of-20 shots from the charity stripe.
In the second half, the Quakers shot just 1-of-15 from beyond the arc. Iowa knocked down four of its 10 attempts from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes to extend its already commanding lead.
Iowa scored 30 points off of 25 Quaker turnovers while the Hawkeye bench outscored Penn's reserves, 45-12.Game Notes
