Recap: Kansas State vs. Long Beach State

Manhattan, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Foster scored a game-high 17 points, shooting 4-of-8 behind the 3-point line, as the Kansas State Wildcats posted a 71-58 win over the Long Beach State 49ers in a non-conference battle at Bramlage Coliseum.

Also scoring in double figures for the Wildcats (2-1) were Shane Southwell and Omari Lawrence with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The 49ers (1-3), losers of three straight after opening the campaign with a 71-59 triumph over Hawaii-Pacific, were led by Dan Jennings with his 14 points and game-high 12 rebounds, followed by A.J. Spencer with 13 points in the setback.

LBSU fell behind immediately, shooting only 9-of-27 from the floor, en route to a 39-22 deficit at the break.

In the second half the 49ers improved to 46.4 percent from the field, but KSU responded with 12-of-16 shooting at the free-throw line in order to keep some distance between the squads.

Kansas State, which led by as many as 23 points early in the second half, forced a total of 20 turnovers and outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 20-8.
