Recap: Iowa vs. Michigan

Iowa City, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Iowa responded from its season-worst effort from beyond the arc with its best.

And nobody was scorching more than Roy Devyn Marble.

Marble nailed six 3-pointers in the first half and netted 26 points as No. 17 Iowa routed No. 10 Michigan, 85-67, on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawkeyes (18-6, 7-4 Big Ten), who had dropped three of their last five games coming in, were 10-of-17 from 3-point range after going 3-of-20 in Tuesday's home loss to Ohio State.

Michigan entered Saturday's tilt allowing just 5.5 3-pointers per contest.

Aaron White tallied 11 points and eight rebounds, while Mike Gesell added 10 points and eight assists in the triumph.

Caris LeVert had 22 points and Zak Irvin put in 19 for Michigan (17-6, 9-2), which has lost two of its last three on the heels of a 10-game winning streak.

"Iowa punched us early today, and it was hard to respond," Michigan head coach John Beilein said.

Marble nailed a trio of triples just over four minutes into the contest before hitting his fourth with 11:30 left in the opening half, which staked Iowa to a 21-10 cushion.

"I just wanted to come out and be aggressive," Marble said. "I just told the guys come out here and play hard."

Zach McCabe's trey a few minutes later gave the Hawkeyes their largest lead of the first half, 27-11.

Irvin netted eight points during a 12-3 Michigan run, which he capped with a jumper to whittle the deficit to 36-29.

Iowa, though, scored the last seven points of the half to reestablish its momentum heading into the break. Marble's sixth trey of the stanza came with five seconds left and gave the hosts a 43-29 advantage.

Marble was 8-of-13 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range in the half.

The Hawkeyes pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 27 down the stretch before coasting to the easy win.
