Recap: Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State

Lubbock, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaye Crockett scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and Texas Tech pulled off a 65-61 upset of No. 19 Oklahoma State in a game overshadowed by an ugly incident surrounding the Cowboys' Marcus Smart.

Jordan Tolbert added nine points while Robert Turner had six points, five steals and three assists for the Red Raiders (12-11, 4-6 Big 12), who have won their past two.

Smart scored 22 points for the Cowboys (16-7, 4-6), but took an ill- advised technical with 6.2 seconds to play due to an altercation with a fan.

Phil Forte added 15 points and Le'Bryan Nash added 12 for Oklahoma State, which has dropped four in a row.

Coming out of a timeout, Nash lost control of the ball and Turner came up with the steal and eventually dished the ball off to Crockett, who was fouled by Smart with 6.2 seconds left.

Smart fell into the crowd behind the net and as he was being helped up, he turned around an confronted a fan, shoving the fan after a few words were said and getting issued a technical foul in the process.

"I'm still trying to figure it out," said Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford about the incident, later stating that Smart wasn't thrown out after the incident. "We'll discuss it more after I find out what happened. I haven't seen it yet."

In the postgame press conference, Texas Tech coach Tubby Smith said he didn't see the altercation take place.

"You really have to find the film to see what happened," he said. "I assume the officials saw what happened. That's why he got a technical out of it. The frustration when you're losing sometimes on a losing streak, I've been there before, it can be tough. I'm sure he regrets doing that, whatever he did, so things like that happen in the heat of the battle."

Dusty Hannahs knocked down the technical and Crockett split a pair from the line to put the game out of reach as Oklahoma State was unable to get a shot off before time expired.

Texas Tech held a six-point lead early, but Oklahoma State surged ahead with a 12-0 run and the game stayed tight from there for the rest of the half.

After Smart hit a free throw to give the Cowboys a 27-25 lead, Tolbert and Jamal Williams made buckets to give the Red Raiders a 29-27 lead at the break.

A Forte 3-pointer just over six minutes in gave Oklahoma State a 44-36 lead, but Texas Tech came back with a 10-2 run to again tie the game with 10 minutes to play.

From there, neither side led by more than three points.
