Recap: Nebraska vs. Purdue

Lincoln, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Terran Petteway scored a game-high 29 points to lead his Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 76-57 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers in Big Ten Conference action at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Petteway connected on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, and hit all eight of his free-throw attempts for Nebraska (16-10, 8-6 Big Ten). Shavon Shields tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Walter Pitchford chipped in 10 points with five rebounds. The Cornhuskers have won five consecutive games, and seven of their last eight.

Bryson Scott notched a double-double for Purdue (15-12, 5-9), scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. A.J. Hammons blocked four shots in the loss for Purdue, which has dropped three of its last four games.

Nebraska shot 41.4 percent from the field in the first half, including 2-of-9 from 3-point distance, and took a 34-25 lead into the intermission. Purdue seriously struggled offensively in the frame, netting just 22.2 percent of its field goal tries, including just 1-of-9 from deep. The Boilermakers stayed competitive thanks to 12-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line.

The Cornhuskers improved to 51.9 percent shooting in the second period, hitting 4-of-11 from distance as well. Purdue increased its shooting percentage to 38.5 from the floor, but fell even further behind Nebraska's lead in the stanza.

Nebraska outscored Purdue from 3-point range, 18-9, and forced 14 Boilermaker turnovers while committing just nine of its own.
