Recap: Texas vs. Texas-Arlington

Austin, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Demarcus Holland and Cameron Ridley each finished with double-doubles as the Texas Longhorns slipped by the Texas- Arlington Mavericks, 72-69, in a non-conference battle at the Erwin Center.

Holland had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds and Ridley tacked on 10 points and 11 boards for Texas (6-1). Prince Ibeh added 11 points off the bench and Isaiah Taylor chipped in 10 points.

Reger Dowell scored 17 points to lead Texas-Arlington (2-6). Brandon Edwards tallied 16 points, Jamel Outler chipped in 14 and Lonnie McClanahan chimed in with 13.

The Mavericks owned a 41-33 lead at halftime. UTA hit on 43.8 percent of its field goal tries, including 6-of-15 from beyond the arc, in the period. Texas fell off the pace by going just 1-of-10 from 3-point distance.

After the break the Longhorns stormed back behind a 52 percent shooting effort. The key moment of the contest came when Holland scored on dunk with just over a minute to play to give Texas a 70-69 lead. A pair of missed shots from the Mavericks and two free-throws from Connor Lammert in the final minute allowed the Longhorns to hold on.

Texas outscored UTA, 32-22, in the paint. The Mavericks connected on only 32.1 percent of their field goal attempts after halftime.
