Recap: Northwestern vs. Brown

Evanston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Drew Crawford recorded his fourth double- double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Northwestern Wildcats defeated the Brown Bears, 58-52, in a non-conference bout at Welsh- Ryan Arena.

Kale Abrahamson nearly notched a double-double of his own off the bench for the Wildcats (7-5) with 11 points and nine rebounds. Alex Olah contributed 10 points while Dave Sobolewski handed out seven assists in the victory.

Sean McGonagill led Brown (6-4) with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor. Cedric Kuakumensah added 10 points while Rafael Maia paced the Bears on the glass with 11 boards.

The Wildcats struggled in the first half and trailed, 27-25, at halftime after they made only 31.3 percent of their field goal tries including just 2-of-11 from behind the 3-point line in the opening 20 minutes of the tilt. Brown held a narrow lead despite compiling a 2-of-8 clip from 3-point range and making just 1-of-4 tries at the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes of action.

The Bears were held to 25 percent shooting from the floor and missed seven of their 15 free throws in the second period. Northwestern took control by converting 40.7 percent of its field goal attempts after the break.

Although Brown outrebounded the Wildcats, 49-42, its bench scored only nine points compared to 18 by Northwestern's reserves.
