Recap: West Virginia vs. Ga Southern

Morgantown, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - Juwan Staten scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures for the West Virginia Mountaineers, who posted a 101-68 victory over the Georgia Southern Eagles as part of the Cancun Challenge at WVU Coliseum.

Staten also handed out nine assists for West Virginia (3-1). Devin Williams and Terry Henderson each finished with 16 points, Eron Harris tacked on 15 and Gary Browne chipped in 11.

Tre Bussey scored 21 points to pace Georgia Southern (2-2). Jelani Hewitt contributed 15 points and five assists and Angel Matias collected 11 rebounds.

Staten scored 14 points in the first half as the Mountaineers took control early. West Virginia connected on 56.8 percent of its field goal tries, including 6-of-15 from beyond the arc, to take a 55-26 lead at the break. The Eagles managed to make just 27 percent of their shots during the period.

The Mountaineers kept up the hot shooting in the second half, netting 55.9 percent from the field, to coast to the easy victory.

West Virginia scored 28 points off of 17 Georgia Southern turnovers. The Eagles managed only seven points off takeaways.
