Recap: Cincinnati vs. Rutgers

Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Sean Kilpatrick scored 16 points to lead the Cincinnati Bearcats to a 71-51 rout of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in an American Athletic Conference bout at Fifth Third Arena.

Troy Caupain added 14 points for Cincinnati (15-2, 4-0 AAC), which has won eight straight. Shaquille Thomas and Justin Jackson each added 11 points and Titus Rubles pulled down 10 rebounds.

Myles Mack finished with a game-high 17 points for Rutgers (7-9, 1-2) and Kadeem Jack tacked on 10 points and nine rebounds. The Scarlet Knights have lost consecutive games after a three-game winning streak.

Cincinnati only led by a score of 34-32 at halftime. The Bearcats connected on 42.9 percent of their field goal tries, compared to a 43.3 percent effort from Rutgers, but they also hit 15-of-20 attempts from the free-throw line.

After the break Cincinnati shot at a 42.9 percent. The Scarlet Knights were unable to keep up, totaling only six field goals in the period.

The Bearcats benefited from a 31-11 scoring edge from the free-throw line. Cincinnati also got 29 points from its bench.
