Recap: Butler vs. Xavier

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Semaj Christon scored 15 points as the Xavier Musketeers pulled out a 64-50 victory over the Butler Bulldogs in a Big East clash at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Isaiah Philmore chipped in 10 points off the bench for Xavier (17-7, 7-4 Big East), which has won back-to-back games following a three-game slide.

Elijah Brown paced Butler (12-12, 2-10) with 14 points. Alex Barlow contributed 11 points , but leading scorer Kellen Dunham had only two points on 1-of-10 shooting. The Bulldogs have lost three straight.

Xavier shot 52 percent from the field in the first half, during which it led by as many as 10 points. Butler had only eight field goals in the period and trailed, 31-22, at the break.

The Musketeers coasted to victory in the second half, leading by as many as 24 points while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor.

Xavier outscored Butler, 34-16, in the paint.
