Recap: DePaul vs. Southern Miss

Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Craig scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles pulled out a 75-68 win over the DePaul Blue Demons as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Allstate Arena.

Aaron Brown scored a team-best 13 points for the Golden Eagles (2-0), followed by Daveon Boardingham and Chip Armelin with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Brandon Young led the way for the Blue Demons (1-1) with a game-high 23 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals, while Cleveland Melvin tacked on 16 points in the setback.

DePaul led by as many as 12 points in the first half, but the team shot just 6-of-14 at the free-throw line in the period, allowing the visitors to battle back and take a 35-30 lead at the break.

In the second half USM's advantage grew to 11 points with just under 12 minutes remaining, but the team needed 56.5 percent shooting from the floor and 11-of-14 at the charity stripe in order to pull out the victory.

Southern Miss suffered 15 turnovers, which the Blue Demons traded in for 21 points, but the visitors compensated by connecting on 52.0 percent from the floor.
