Recap: DePaul vs. Houston Baptist

Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Melvin tallied a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds, as the DePaul Blue Demons rolled past the Houston Baptist Huskies, 78-58, in a non-conference game at Allstate Arena.

Tommy Hamilton tallied 14 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Blue Demons (7-4), while Brandon Young added 11 points.

Cody Joyce led the Huskies (3-8) with 14 points. Rob Lewis added 11 points and seven rebounds. Marcel Smith chipped in five assists.

Neither team shot greater than 38 percent from the field in the first half, but DePaul took a 33-27 lead into intermission by shooting 7-of-11 from the free-throw line.

The Blue Demons' field goal efficiency improved to .441 percent after the break and used a 17-6 run to pull away.

DePaul forced Houston Baptist into 18 turnovers, which resulted in 21 points on the other end of the floor.
