Rosemont, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Semaj Christon netted 27 points as the Xavier Musketeers took down the DePaul Blue Demons, 84-74, in a Big East clash at Allstate Arena.

Christon shot 9-of-12 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the foul line to help Xavier (15-4, 5-1 Big East) to its 10th win in the last 11 games. Justin Martin had 18 points and Isaiah Philmore added 13 in the triumph.

Cleveland Melvin paced DePaul (10-10, 2-5) with 25 points in the Demons' second straight loss. Billy Garrett donated 18 points in the setback.

Xavier shot a scorching 67.9 percent in the first half and closed the frame on an 11-1 run to lead 50-32 at the break. Christon had 19 in the period for the Musketeers, including six down the stretch.

A pair of Melvin free throws seven minutes into the second half cut DePaul's deficit to 61-54, but that's as close as it would get. Philmore and Christon followed with layups to restore Xavier's double digit lead. Later, Erik Stenger's layup capped a 7-0 run as the visitors cruised to the finish line.
