Recap: Georgetown vs. Wright State

Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera registered a game-high 25 points as the Georgetown Hoyas recorded an 88-70 win over the Wright State Raiders in non-conference action at Verizon Center.

Smith-Rivera connected on 8-of-12 shots from the floor and all six of his free-throw attempts for the Hoyas (1-1) as they rebounded from their season- opening loss to Oregon on the road last week. Also scoring in double figures was Markal Starks who dropped in 23 points, to go along with six assists.

The Raiders (1-1) were paced by Kendall Griffin who tallied 15 points, followed by Miles Dixon and JT Yoho with 14 apiece.

Georgetown scored the first points of the night and never looked back, converting not only 56.7 percent from the field in the first half but also 8- of-13 beyond the arc and a perfect 8-of-8 at the free-throw line. The Hoyas led at the break, 50-31.

In the second half the hosts continued to pile on, leading by as many as 25, and considering the team shot only 14-of-26 at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes of the meeting, Wright State got off easy.

Georgetown survived 16 turnovers by shooting 10-of-22 behind the 3-point line and winning the rebounding battle, 40-31.
