Recap: Georgetown vs. Colgate
Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Joshua Smith had 14 points and Markel Starks scored 12, as the Georgetown Hoyas held on for a 61-55 win over the Colgate Raiders in a non-conference tilt at the Verizon Center.
Nate Lubick tallied 10 points and seven rebounds for the Hoyas (6-2), winners of five straight.
The Raiders (4-3) saw their winning streak halted at four in a row, despite a game-high 21 points from Austin Tillotson. Murphy Burnatowski chipped in with a double-double, as he scored 12 points and pulled down 10 boards.
Georgetown grabbed a 21-15 halftime lead despite shooting just 29 percent from the floor and missing all nine of its 3-point attempts in the opening frame, as Colgate made only 5-of-26 field goals (.192).
The Raiders trailed by as many as 14 in the second half before rallying to cut the deficit to four late in regulation. However, the Hoyas kept Colgate at bay by draining 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch.
The win was Georgetown's 47th in a row in non-conference play at the Verizon Center, a streak that dates back to 2006.Game Notes
