Recap: SMU vs. Rutgers

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Markus Kennedy scored 18 points and secured 10 rebounds as the SMU Mustangs topped the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 70-56 in an American Athletic Conference tilt at Moody Coliseum.

Kennedy also blocked four shots and Ben Moore chipped in 12 points for SMU (15-4, 4-2 AAC), which has won four straight.

J.J. Moore tallied 15 points and Myles Mack finished with 13 on 2-of-11 shooting for Rutgers (8-11, 2-4), which has lost four of its last five.

The Mustangs rolled into halftime, leading 36-25. They knocked down 45.5 percent of their shots from the floor in the first 20 minutes and limited the Scarlet Knights to seven field goals.

SMU hit on 47.6 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes and also outscored Rutgers 13-6 from the free-throw line to coast to victory.

The Mustangs had a 21-11 scoring advantage off of turnovers and outscored the Scarlet Knights in the paint (30-22).
