Recap: UCF vs. Rutgers

Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tristan Spurlock scored 23 points as the UCF Knights narrowly defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 67-65, in an American Athletic Conference contest at CFE Arena.

Isaiah Sykes registered 14 points and seven boards while Kasey Wilson had 11 points for the Knights (11-15, 3-12 AAC), who snapped a two-game skid.

Myles Mack tallied 19 points for the Scarlet Knights (10-18, 4-11), who have lost five consecutive games. Junior Etou added 14 points with nine rebounds, and Kadeem Jack chipped in 12 with Jack clearing nine boards as well.

Rutgers shot 53.3 percent from the field in the first half and led 35-26 at the intermission. UCF shot just 33.3 percent on field goal attempts, including 3-of-11 from beyond the arc.

The Knights connected on 47.6 percent from the floor in the second frame and went 18-of-27 from the free-throw line. With 4:38 left, UCF was down 59-51 and went on a 14-8 run to take the win from the Scarlet Knights.

Despite the loss, Rutgers dominated play inside by outscoring UCF 40-26 in the paint. UCF had the edge in points off turnovers, 21-10, and outscored Rutgers from the free-throw line, 19-5.
