Recap: SMU vs. Texas State

Garland, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nic Moore scored 16 points and handed out eight assists as the SMU Mustangs captured a 70-49 win over the Texas State Bobcats in non-conference play at the Curtis Culwell Center.

Moore, who shot 4-of-7 behind the 3-point line, added five steals and four rebounds as the Mustangs (3-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season. Also scoring in double figures were Nick Russell and Yanick Moreira with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Bobcats (0-4) were paced by Joel Wright who tallied a game-high 21 points, shooting 4-of-6 beyond the arc, but at the same time he was guilty of six of the team's 18 turnovers.

Texas State managed to put together an early four-point advantage, but the squad shot a mere 6-of-24 from the floor through the first 20 minutes, en route to a 41-20 deficit at the break.

After converting 56.0 percent from the field in the first half, SMU slowed to only 44.0 percent after intermission, but still the team was able to cruise to the 21-point victory.

The Mustangs won the rebounding battle, 38-27, and also outscored the visitors in the paint, 28-12.
