Recap: Villanova vs. Delaware

Villanova, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - JayVaughn Pinkston tallied 26 points as the Villanova Wildcats defeated the Delaware Blue Hens, 84-80, at The Pavilion.

Pinkston was 8-of-16 from the field and made good on 10-of-11 attempts from the free-throw line for the Wildcats (4-0) James Bell managed 16 points and seven rebounds while Darrun Hilliard stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals. Ryan Arcidiacono contributed 14 points but shot just 1-of-8 from 3-point range.

Davon Usher recorded a game-high 27 points for the Blue Hens (2-3) while making good on 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc. Jarvis Threatt contributed 16 points, eights assists and three steals but struggled from the floor, shooting just 7-of-24. Kyle Anderson added 17 points while Carl Baptiste managed 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

After a close first half, the Wildcats carried a 43-40 lead into the break despite allowing Delaware to shoot 50.0 percent from the field.

The difference in the second half came at the free-throw line where Villanova made 13-of-17 attempts compared to just 5-of-8 by Delaware.

While the Wildcats struggled severely from beyond the arc, making just 5-of-25 shots, they managed to make 21-of-27 shots at the charity stripe and earned a 45-32 rebounding advantage.

Villanova is now 12-0 against the Blue Hens all-time.
