Recap: UCF vs. Valparaiso

Orlando, FL ( - Tristan Spurlock made seven of his eight shots from the floor to tally a game-high 22 points as the UCF Knights completed a 90-62 rout of the Valparaiso Crusaders in the final game of the UCF Holiday Classic at CFE Arena.

Brandon Goodwin added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench for UCF (8-3), which also received 11 points from Eugene McCrory. Isaiah Sykes and Kasey Wilson scored 10 points apiece to help the Knights notch their fifth victory in a row by a double-digit margin.

The Crusaders (8-6) were led by LaVonte Dority, who scored 14 points on 5-of-9 efficiency from the field. Jubril Adekoya chipped in 11 points. Alec Peters had a poor showing, scoring three points on 1-of-8 shooting from the floor and accounting for six of Valparaiso's 17 turnovers.

The Knights dominated Valpo on both ends of the floor in the first half and took a sizeable, 43-20, lead into the intermission. UCF shot 48.3 percent from the field including an 8-of-12 clip from 3-point range while the Crusaders made only four of their 20 field goal tries over the opening 20 minutes.

Valpo improved to connect on 51.6 percent of its shots from the floor including 8-of-18 from beyond the arc in the second half. UCF still managed to extend its lead after the break by sinking 54.8 percent of its field goal attempts and also 10-of-16 at the free-throw line.

The Knights scored 21 points off of turnovers while Valpo converted UCF's eight miscues into only four points.
