Recap: Brown vs. Yale

Providence, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Sean McGonagill poured in 29 points to lead the Brown Bears to a 73-56 decision over the Yale Bulldogs in an Ivy League matchup at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

McGonagill connected on 7-of-9 attempts from behind the 3-point line for Brown (9-7, 1-1 Ivy). which also received 10 points off the bench courtesy of Dockery Walker. Steven Spieth tallied nine points, seven rebounds and five assists while Rafael Maia contributed a team-best eight boards and also had five assists. Tavon Blackmon dealt out a team-high seven assists and scored the same number of points for the Bears.

Justin Sears led Yale (7-9, 1-1) with 17 points. Javier Duren had 13 points and Armani Cotton netted 10 to go along with five boards and three steals.

Brown took a 38-25 lead into the intermission after it shot 55.2 percent from the field. McGonagill knocked down 4-of-4 tries from 3-point range en route to 12 points in the opening period. Yale missed all seven of its shots from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Bulldogs were limited to 37.5 percent efficiency from the field and made only 10-of-19 attempts at the charity stripe in the second half. The Bears assisted nine of their 11 makes from the floor after the break.

Brown outrebounded the Bulldogs, 40-30, and outscored the visitors, 32-24, in the paint.
