Recap: Brown vs. Columbia

Providence, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Rafael Maia netted 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the double-double as the Brown Bears defeated the Columbia Lions, 64-56, in Ivy League action at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Cedric Kuakumensah contributed 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting for Brown (11-7, 3-1 Ivy). Sean McGonagill chipped in 10 points in the win. The Bears have won three consecutive contests.

Maodo Lo led the way for Columbia (13-8, 2-2) with 13 points and five rebounds. Alex Rosenberg and Luke Petrasek each tallied 12 points, and Cory Osetkowski chipped in 10. Petrasek nabbed nine rebounds in the loss, which was Columbia's second in a row.

Brown shot 35.7 percent from the floor in the first half, but still was able to take a 28-26 lead into the intermission. Columbia shot 43.5 percent in the half.

Brown stepped it up in the second half, connecting on 42.9 percent of its field goal tries to Columbia's 39.1 shooting percentage. The Lions hit just 3- of-13 from 3-point range in the second frame.

The Bears had the edge in second chance points, 11-2, and in points in the paint, 24-20.
